Mayyim Hayyim will host an international mikveh conference, bringing together clergy, educators, academics, seminary students, and lay leaders to explore and expand contemporary mikveh practice.

Join Mayyim Hayyim and our international partners for an in-depth exploration of the contemporary mikveh in theory and practice. Internationally renowned scholars, clergy, and educators will teach about immersion as a powerful tool for spiritual renewal, marking life transitions, and observing mitzvot.  


Panels and workshops will provide skill development in the following areas:
  • Honoring Conversion and Affirmation
  • Exploring Contemporary Understanding of Niddah (Monthly Immersion)
  • Marking Life Transitions with Ritual Immersion
  • Facilitating Mikveh Guide (Attendant) Training
  • Teaching About Mikveh for Students of All Ages
  • Creating or Enhancing a Mikveh in Your Community (Supplemental Session, October 12, 1-6 pm)

 

Nationally renowned keynote speakers include Erica Brown, Anita Diamant and Jonathan Sarna.  During the conference, Mayyim Hayyim will present its original musical production, The Colors of Water:  An African-American Jewish Journey. 


This three-day conference is a follow-up to the successful 2006 Reclaiming Mikveh conference, organized by the Outreach Training Institute of the Union for Reform Judaism;
funded in part by The Covenant Foundation, Slingshot Fund and Natan.
