Mayyim Hayyim is thrilled to announce year four of “Let Justice Well Up,” an initiative by and for Jewish women of color, to provide a sense of welcome, empowerment, and connection as well as healing and support within the Jewish community.

The Torah study series will offer a space for Jewish women and non-binary people of color, led by erica riddick, Director of Jews of Color Sanctuary, and at a highly subsidized rate for participants, to build relationships with one another and delve into our sacred texts without feeling the need to check part of themselves at the door.

About the Series

Join Mayyim Hayyim’s Jewish non-binary and women of color text study space where we will look at Torah text alongside secular sources, explore text study through the Jewish Studio Process creative practice, and weave wisdom from our intersectional identities in ways that bring us to Torah and Torah to us. These interactive sessions approach text study with the belief that our lived experiences prepare us for study. Each of the five monthly sessions are designed for learners of all backgrounds and can be taken individually or as a series.

Let Justice Well Up through our connection with the moon that moves tides, orders our Jewish calendar, and invites celebration of Shekhina, the female-centered aspect of the divine. Let the blessing of Rosh Chodesh wash over you through Jewish and secular texts welcoming us into ancient ritual and tradition to nourish our lives and creative practice.

You will need materials for the creative practice sessions which can be as simple as crayon and paper for drawing, an instrument for creating music, or your body for creating movement, sound, and other kinds of creative power.

The series take place every fourth Sunday from February through July, 12-1:30 pm ET.
