Join the Greater Boston Jewish community for a musical evening of connection and remembrance.
Mayyim Hayyim is co-sponsoring Shir HaMa’alot (“Rising of Song”) with Joey Weisenberg, Creative Director of Hadar‘s Rising Song Institute and leading voice in Jewish music. Joey will guide participants in singing pre-war melodies, as well as his own original nigunim (melodies) inspired by the music of that period. The evening will be an opportunity to use song as a way of commemorating and connecting to the communities lost in the Shoah.
This program is being offered by JCDS and Facing History and Ourselves. It is also cosponsored by Asiyah Jewish Community, Congregation Kehillath Israel, Temple Beth Zion Brookline MA, Temple Ohabei Shalom, Chabad of Lexington, Temple Shir Tikvah, Kerem Shalom, Temple Emunah Lexington, Newton Centre Minyan, and Shabbat By the Creek.
Note: In recognizing the customs of Sefirat HaOmer that members of our community observe, a portion of the evening will be without instrumentation. The use of instrumental music during a dedicated part of the event will be in keeping with the mood of the day.
