Spilt Milk: A Virtual Book Tour

Join Anita Diamant and Courtney Zoffness for an author discussion of Courtney’s first book of essays, “Spilt Milk”, featuring reflections on inheritance and motherhood. A portion of the evening will be spent reviewing Zoffness’s essay, “Holy Body,” which features her immersion at Mayyim Hayyim as well as a reflection on the surrogacy of our CEO, Carrie Bornstein. There will be opportunities for an author Q + A from the public, and the evening will culminate in a handwashing ceremony. This event is free and open to the public. Bios

Courtney Zoffness writes fiction and nonfiction. She won the Sunday Times Short Story Award, an Emerging Writer Fellowship from the Center for Fiction, the Creative Nonfiction prize from Arts & Letters, and artist residencies from MacDowell. Her work has appeared in the Paris Review Daily, the Southern Review, Longreads, and elsewhere, and she had Notable Best American Essays in 2018 and 2019. She directs the Creative Writing Program at Drew University and lives with her family in Brooklyn, New York. Spilt Milk is her first book.

Anita Diamant is the founding president of Mayyim Hayyim and bestselling author of the novels The Boston GirlThe Red Tent, Good Harbor, The Last Days of Dogtown, and Day After Night, and the collection of essays, Pitching My Tent. An award-winning journalist whose work appeared in The Boston Globe Magazine and Parenting, and many others, she is the author of six nonfiction guides to contemporary Jewish life. She is working on a forthcoming book about menstrual justice.
