For those of you on Mayyim Hayyim’s email list, you likely saw the message we shared last month that it appears the organization has been the victim of financial improprieties by a former staff person. While we are still working with forensic accountants to determine the exact extent and duration of the breach, we know that the estimated loss, while significant, is thankfully not enough to endanger the organization or our ability to serve our guests.
To be honest, we had no idea what kind of response we’d get from that communication. But over the past few weeks, we’ve been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community, including many wonderful email messages:
“You have provided a wonderful safe space for so many families and I hope and pray that everything is okay now that you have discovered the problem.”
“It’s clear that the integrity of your organization and the holiness of your work will persevere.”
Many of you have asked how you can help, and the truth is that we need your assistance now more than ever. Please consider:
- Sharing our recent job postings for two full-time positions: Administrative Director and Marketing/Administrative Assistant
- “Liking” the Mayyim Hayyim and Rising Tide Open Waters Mikveh Network Facebook pages to show your support and spread the word about our work
- Making a secure, tax-deductible contribution to help us with the one-time costs of this incident and alleviate the unexpected pressure it has put on our budget
Knowing that you’re with us for the long haul is a source of strength and resolve for everyone at Mayyim Hayyim. Your continuing help means that we will face the future a stronger, smarter, and more secure organization.
Carrie Bornstein is the Executive Director at Mayyim Hayyim.
